Emergency communication system for residential elevators

Synopsis

Nibav Lifts USA equips its residential elevators with a built-in emergency communication system that allows immediate communication during unexpected situations, ensuring user safety, rapid support access, and dependable emergency assistance at all times.

What it is

An Emergency Communication System (ECS) is a system that allows users of Nibav home elevators to communicate with the external world from within the elevator cabin during emergency situations and emergencies. When a user feels unsafe, sick, or trapped in an elevator as a result of loss of power, the ECS allows them to send a request or call for assistance directly to a designated help center or person while still inside the elevator.

The Nibav home elevators feature electronic and communication interfaces that are directly incorporated into the elevator control panel. The ECS has a separate emergency button, which activates the ECS when pressed. As soon as the button is pressed, an electronic communications module connects the passenger to an external emergency response team through the e-mail system, enabling two-way voice communication. By using the ECS, passengers will receive assistance immediately without having to rely on any external devices or mobile phones.

Why is it important?

In a residential environment, there may be seniors, minors, guests, or those with medical issues riding an elevator. In the event of a malfunction, illness, or loss of electrical power, it is important for the occupant of that elevator to be able to reach out for assistance. If there is no ECS, passengers may find themselves in a position where they are trapped without the ability to communicate, medical emergencies remain undetected, and fear and dread increase.

Nibav’s ECS provides peace of mind to all passengers by ensuring that they are never left alone and isolated. A press of a button connects the passenger to emergency assistance through:

  • Immediate access to emergency reporting
  • Enhanced reassurance through two-way communication
  • Faster response time from family or support personnel

In addition, for those who utilize an elevator at home (and there are many), the safety link from the passenger to the outside is provided directly by the communication system.

Who will benefit?

Residential elevators equipped with emergency communication systems are great for:

1. Seniors who live independently

This direct line of communication gives seniors the security they need in case of a medical emergency or power failure.

2. Families who have younger children

If your child feels unsafe, he or she will be able to call for assistance easily.

3. Residences where the elevator will be used often by visitors (guests)

Any guest who is not familiar with an elevator system and has to request assistance will now be able to communicate with you.

4. Luxury homes

A high-end luxury residence requires a commercial-grade emergency communication system for safety.

5. Multi-storied homes that use elevators on a regular basis

The more frequently an elevator is used, the more necessary it is to be prepared to communicate in an emergency.

Technical information

The Nibav USA Emergency Communication System is integrated into our elevator safety and control electronics.

1. Emergency activation button

A clearly marked emergency button is installed within the cab of the elevator. Pressing this button will activate the Emergency Communication System.

2. Two-way communication

The Emergency Communication System has a built-in speaker and microphone so that the passenger can communicate by voice in real-time to the outside responders or family.

3. Power-backed operation

The Emergency Communication System is powered by the Nibav backup battery, so in the event of a power outage, the Emergency Communication System will remain operational.

4. Integration with control system

The Emergency Communication System communicates with the elevator control board so that when an emergency call is made, it will automatically send the elevator’s status to the elevator’s control board.

5. Fail-safe design

The Emergency Communication System will remain operational during:

  • Cab stoppage

This means there will never be a time when the Emergency Communication System cannot be reached.
